Match Preview: Real Madrid vs Malaga

Kick Off Time 3:00pm

Team News

Real Madrid
  • Madrid's last three results do not ooze confidence: narrow, last minute wins against Levante and Elche, and a defeat at home to Atletico Madrid.
  • A further sign that not all is well in the dressing room came in an interview with Sami Khedira in German magazine Kicker, with the midfielder remarking: “I don’t know if it’s just a question of time, or something else, but we still haven’t found ourselves as a team.”
  • Xabi Alonso is still recovering from a broken metatarsal and is Madrid's only absentee, although Gareth Bale is unlikely to start following two weeks out with a muscle tear, meaning Angel Di Maria will keep his place.
  • Karim Benzema scored in back-to-back games for France, helping his cause to keep his place in the starting XI.
Malaga
  • Malaga suffered a surprise defeat at home to Osasuna in their last game, but could have lost by a far larger margin if it hadn't been for some fantastic saves by Willy Caballero.
  • The result was a setback for Malaga, who had been stringing together a decent run of results until then.
  • Their only injury absentee is Jose Manuel Casado, who is still recovering from damaged knee ligaments.

  • They face an inconsistent Malaga side outplayed by Osasuna last time out and will be expected to win comfortably.
  • Benzema enjoys playing Malaga, having scored five goals in the last four games against them at the Bernabeu and after ending his drought with France, he will be looking to score for the first time in seven games for his club.
