Ghen ghen! Premium Times battles Punch over Obasanjo's letter

Two days ago you guys read the 18-page stinker Obasanjo wrote to President Jonathan (In case you missed it, enjoy). Well, here's the thing, online news site Premium Times published the letter first and claimed to have exclusive rights to it. They even watermarked each page of the letter. Punch and other media houses later wrote their own reports and published unwatermarked version of the letter

Premium Times is now accusing Punch and all the other media houses of plagiarism, claiming they stole their exclusive and refused to acknowledge them.

The Editor-in Chief of the Premium Times, Dapo Olorunyomi, said

Months after executing his ex-girlfriend, North Korean 30 year old leader Kim Jong-un, has once again killed someone close to him, his own uncle.

According to Korean Central News Agency, Kim Jong-un executed, Jang Song Thaek, (pictured above being led away yesterday) for allegedly 'trying to overthrow the government'."

Mr. Tajudeen Onifara, a 24-year-old robber has revealed the secret behind his success in the robbery biz for 9years during which he robbed many people of their money and other possessions.
He confessed to the police that he was dutifully paying his tithe to his church, Christ Living Ministry, Lagos Island, as commanded in the Bible after every successful robbery operation in Lagos, western Nigeria.
Onifara was arrested in a hotel with his girlfriend by men of the anti-robbery squad of the state police command after nine years of robbing people.
The father of two said he paid his tithe regularly because he believed that as a Christian God always bless a faithful tither.
He disclosed that after every successful operation, he would remove 10 percent of the money he stole from people and pay as tithe to church.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested two members of a gang of suspected serial rapists. The two men are allegedly to have raped a young girl.

At the NSCDC headquarters in Akure, the Command's Public Relations Officer, Kayode Balogun said the rape happened in Oluwatuyi quarters in Akure and told reporters, "We got a tip off and the two guys were arrested while the remaining four are still at large. They gave us a confessional statement on how the young lady was raped, and they threatened her not to tell anyone what transpired. Because of that fear she did not tell anyone."

Balogun said items found in the possession of the suspects include butcher's knives and a small axe.

One of them, Wale Fadahunsi, 28, told police he sex with the girl but did not force her. He had asked the girl out several time but she refused. A high school drop-out, Fadahunsi is now a fashion designer. He admitted to being a member of the cult group.

The Rivers State Police command today disrupted a sitting of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Twenty five members of the House of Assembly loyal to embattled Governor Rotimi Amaechi had met on the Assembly earlier today in compliance with a high court order barring the National Assembly from taking over the functions of the Assembly.
But as the lawmakers tried to gain entry, the police quickly descended on the Assembly and sealed off the complex. The lawmakers then decided to hold their sitting outside the complex.
But the police suddenly began shooting teargas and live ammunition at the lawmakers who quickly took to their heels scampering for safety. It is not known yet whether anyone was injured.

419: Fake Sign Language Interpreter At Mandela’s Memorial

South Africa’s deaf community yesteray, Wednesday accused the sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela’s memorial of being a fake, who had merely flapped his arms around during speeches.

Pope Francis has been announced by TIME magazine as its Man Of The Year for 2013.

Osun State parents and students are protesting the new educational reforms as fighting are breaking out.
As earlier revealed by SaharaReporters, the new education reforms policy not only merged schools with different missions and faiths but re-classified grades which is causing students to fight each other over seniority.
The re-classifying policy brought students at one higher class together with those in a junior class with senior students exercising their authority over the junior ones.
Fighting has been breaking out all over the state.
A fight broke out among students at Oshogbo Grammar School which resulted in bloodshed not only among students but a teacher, Mr. Thompson Olamoyegun, was cut with a machete by some of the students.
A parent said the State PTA meeting was going on in the school when the fighting broke out which caused the meeting to end abruptly.

Before It Is Too Late... a letter of appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

I am constrained to make this an open letter to you for a number of reasons. One, the current situation and consequent possible outcome dictate that I should, before the door closes on reason and promotion of national interest, alert you to the danger that may be lurking in the corner. Two, none of the four or more letters that I have written to you in the past two years or so has elicited an acknowledgment or any response. Three, people close to you, if not yourself, have been asking, what does Obasanjo want?

Four, I could sense a semblance between the situation that we are gradually getting into and the situation we fell into as a nation during the Abacha era. Five, everything must be done to guard, protect and defend our fledgling democracy, nourish it and prevent bloodshed. Six, we must move away from advertently or inadvertently dividing the country along weak seams of North-South and Christian-Moslem. Seven, nothing should be done to allow the country to degenerate into economic dormancy, stagnation or retrogression.

All Contending Issues With ASUU Resolved-Wike

The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom
Wike has disclosed that all contending issues
between the Academic Staff Union of Universities
and the Federal Government have been resolved.
He made the disclosure in a statement following his
meeting with the leadership of the union on
Wednesday.
He also lauded the patriotism and strong will
demonstrated by members of the union to uplift the
standard of education in the country.
The minister, who had earlier threaten members of
the union with sack following their refusal to call off
the over five months old strike in the country’s
universities, stressed that ASUU want the best for
the country.
According to him, “I am very pleased to announce
that all contending issues between ASUU and the
Federal Government have been resolved to the
satisfaction of the parties. Let me emphasize that
we recognize and appreciate ASUU’s patriotic role
and commitment towards ensuring that our
Universities are well-funded, resourced and run like
their counterpart in other parts of the world. Thus,
we are all partners in progress and there is no
victor; no vanquished in the struggle of this nature
for as long as our goals remain noble, not actuated
by parochial interests, and targeted at moving our
nation forward”.
He also assured that the Jonathan’s administration
is serious about revitalizing all universities and will
continue to fund them as a matter of priority.
