Kanye's call for boycott of LV fails miserably. Fashion brand sells out

It seems like quite a number of people don't like Kanye and they spent their money to prove it. A few days after he called for a boycott of giant fashion brand Louis Vuitton, the exact opposite of what he was hoping for happened. Louis Vuittion sold out and a new record was even set for online sales.
After Kanye West told people to not buy any Louis Vuitton until after January the company took action and sent an e-mail to their best customers who responded in a huge way. The company says that sales surged this week and when final numbers came in that a new record was set for online sales and that customers responded to the attack by Kanye by coming to the brand for the first time and there were many small transactions by people who wanted to show their support for anything that is anti-Kanye." CDN reports
During that radio interview Kanye said "They think I don't realize my power." Guess he's not as influential as he thinks he is.

Damaged Brazil stadium may be delayed till Feb

Estadio de Sao Paulo (Foto: Twitter de La Tercera Deportes)

A fatal construction accident at Sao Paulo's World Cup stadium may delay its opening until February, but FIFA is not worried about it being ready on time to host the tournament's opening game in June, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters on Thursday.

A preliminary investigation into Wednesday's accident, in which a crane collapsed and killed two workers, indicated that damage was confined to the concourse area and did not affect the stands - which could have taken longer to fix.
The damaged concourse area took about 35 days to build, and previous experience suggests it will take about twice that time to clear the wreckage and rebuild, the source said. If work resumes on Monday, as the builders believe it will, that puts the completion date in early February.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the probe into the accident is sensitive and ongoing, expressed "high confidence" in the timeline but said it is subject to change pending further investigation by local authorities.

Presidency slams Amaechi, says he is pretending to be Rivers’ “messiah”

The Presidency has debunked claims by the Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi that President Goodluck Jonathan was deploying oil revenues meant for the state to his (Jonathan) native Bayelsa State.
It said Mr. Amaechi was mischievously packaging a personal interest as group interest in his desperate move to justify his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under which he was elected, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In what he described as “a classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul,” the governor, while explaining why he left the PDP for the opposition APC in a statement on Wednesday, alleged that the Jonathan-led federal government had been paying Bayelsa State the revenues due to Rivers State despite a decision reached that the monies derived from the disputed Soku oil well should remain in an escrow account till all matters were resolved.

Liverpool close to capturing Barca ace: Liverpool are on the verge of a major transfer coup, with talks set to open over Barcelona starlet Martin Montoya, reports the Daily Mirror. The paper claims that Reds MD Ian Ayre has flown over to Spain for talks over the defender, who is "one of the country's most exciting youngsters". Montoya is out of contract at the end of the season and it seems that negotiations over a new deal have broken down with the Catalan club. That means that the player is free to talk to interested parties, which include Arsenal and Inter Milan.

Brazil back in FIFA's top 10 as England slide out [See List of Top 50 ]

Brazil's Oscar (11) celebrates his goal against France with teammates Neymar (10) and Paulinho (18) during their international friendly soccer match in Porto Alegre, June 9, 2013 (Reuters)
The World Cup hosts, who slumped to an all-time low of 22nd in June, went back into the top 10 after winning the Confederations Cup in July.
Brazil then slipped to 11th last month but friendly wins over Honduras and Chile have taken them to 10th.
Despite winning their qualifying group, England drop three places to 13th following some poor friendly performances.
FIFA is using October's rankings as the primary yardstick for next week's draw so Brazil's ups and downs will have no impact on their status among the top seeds for the World Cup.
World champions Spain maintained the number one spot they have held since July 2008 followed by Germany, Argentina and Colombia.

ASUU strike: Union writes Jonathan, gives conditions for calling off strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities [ASUU] has written to President Goodluck Jonathan, saying it has resolved to call off its strike, but wanted the president to, first, bring pressure to settle on four bottlenecks contrived to frustrate a resolution of the 5-month old impasse.
Acting Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, briefing journalists, Thursday November 28, in Abuja, responded to the ASUU letter giving the academics one week ultimatum to call off the ongoing strike, but offered no clarity on the next step the administration planned to take.
ASUU sent the letter, exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Thursday, after its National Executive Council meeting in Kano where branch members were briefed on three key points.
The first was the outcome of the meeting with the president which held on November 4; the second was on the November 6th letter [FME/TE/SS.1M/C.1/99] that the Federal Government issued as a minute of the meeting stating the terms of agreements; as well as on ASUU’s response to the federal government letter on Friday November 8.

Match Report: Real Madrid 4 - 1 Galatasaray - Ten-man Madrid overwhelm Galatasaray

Champions League Group B, Bernabeu - Real Madrid 4 (Bale 37, Arbeloa 51, Di Maria 63, Isco 80) Galatasaray 1 (Bulut 38)

Real Madrid overcame the sending off of Sergio Ramos to record an impressive 4-1 win over Galatasaray on a night Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to watch from the stands.
Goals from Gareth Bale, Alvaro Arbeloa, Angel Di Maria and Isco sealed an emphatic win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, cancelling out Umut Bulut’s first half opener and the sending off of Ramos.
A tame first half sprung into life when Sergio Ramos was shown a straight red for dragging down Umut Bulut as he raced through on the Real Madrid goal. Replays showed there was little contact between the two men, but referee Willie Collum dismissed the defender, the 17th time he has seen red in his career.

Leverkusen improved after conceding the second, with Stefan Reinartz hitting the post and David De Gea denying Spahic with the follow up.
