Match Preview: Elche vs Real Madrid

Kick Off Time: 21:00

Team News

Elche
  • Elche had the unsavoury honour of being the first team to lose to Osasuna in their last game, and they have still not won a single game.
  • They are more solid at home than away, having conceded just one goal at the Martinez Valero.
  • Aside from Pelegrin and Sapunaro, Elche have no injury concerns.
Real Madrid
  • Fabio Coentrao is back in the squad and could make his first appearance of the season for Madrid, who will welcome having a natural left-back available for the first time since the win over Athletic Bilbao on 1 Sep.
  • Raphael Varane is also back after recovering from a knee injury but is expected to make an appearance from the bench rather than start.
  • Gareth Bale misses the trip after feeling discomfort in his thigh before the game with Getafe and is being rested in order to be fit in time for the match with Atletico on the weekend.

Match Facts

Real Madrid are undefeated in their last 21 matches in La Liga. Real Madrid win or draw 1.07
Elche have failed to win their last 5 matches in La Liga. Elche lose or draw 1.07

Prediction

  • Elche were able to create chances against Osasuna but were denied by an excellent Andres Fernandez. They will be afforded far fewer opportunities against Real Madrid and will have to make them count if they are to take anything from this game.
  • Elche got promoted thanks to their excellent defensive record and expect them to take an extra cautious approach to this match, as they face one of the best counterattacking sides in the world.
  • Madrid should win fairly comfortably, but may take a while to break down Elche.
