Van Persie out of Netherlands friendlies against Japan and Colombia

The Manchester United striker has been ruled out of the double-header with further concerns over his toe and groin problems, with Leroy Fer and Davy Propper called up
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been ruled out of the Netherlands' friendlies against Japan and Colombia.

Van Persie, who scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, was replaced by Marouane Fellaini with five minutes to go at Old Trafford and will now not feature during the international fixtures due to toe and groin concerns.

The 30-year-old has struggled with the two problem areas all season, recently missing clashes with Real Sociedad, Liverpool and Norwich City, while his record of 90 consecutive Premier Leagues appearances ended in September with a groin complaint.

According to reports, Van Persie has taken pain-killing injections this term while Goal understands the striker feels David Moyes' new training methods are making him more susceptiable to injury.

Norwich summer signing Leroy Fer - who scored his first goal for the club at the weekend - has been called up, along with possible debutant Davy Propper of Vitesse.
