Paper Round: City ready to move for Real Madrid star, ‘Bayern Munich target signing Aguero’, ‘Kagawa desperate to leave United in January’

‘City to move for Real Madrid star’ - Manchester City have reportedly stepped up their interest in taking Sami Khedira from Real Madrid next summer in a £30 million deal. The Spanish giants are offering Khedira a further two years with an annual salary of £3m, around £900,000 more than his current agreement, but such is City’s financial clout that they will be able to better what is on offer in Madrid.
Paper Round’s view: Both Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez are understood to be huge admirers of Khedira and it would appear to make no sense for Real to sell off another very influential German midfielder having offloaded Mesut Ozil to Arsenal over the summer. City’s interest would be understandable, but a move does not sound at all likely. Khedira is an important player in a team that is far from hitting the heights anyway at the moment.

‘Bayern Munich target signing Aguero’ - Bayern Munich reportedly want Manchester City hot-shot Sergio Aguero as a big-money signing for next season with Pep Guardiola a huge fan of the Argentine. Astonishingly, sources close to the Munich monster club reveal Guardiola would even offer Robert Lewandowski in exchange – once the Borussia Dortmund striker joins on a free.
Paper Round’s view: Aguero has been in top form for City this season, leading the scoring charts and taking on the key attacking role under Manuel Pellegrini, and he has spoken consistently of his desire to stay in Manchester. There seems no reason to doubt this and, with Lewandowski to join Bayern already, there is no real need for Bayern to break the bank for yet another forward.

‘Kagawa desperate to leave United in January’ - Shinji Kagawa reportedly wants to quit Manchester United in January. The Japanese midfielder has struggled for games since David Moyes took over and has now told team-mates that he needs to leave Old Trafford in the transfer window. Kagawa, 24, fears he will continue to be frozen out of the United side in the build-up to the World Cup, and does not want to risk a lack of fitness and form as he heads to Brazil. Paper Round’s view: This story does look to have some credibility with the World Cup next year and Kagawa clearly very disgruntled at his bit-part role under Moyes. Wolfsburg are understood to be keen to sign him, while a return to Dortmund would not be at all surprising with Kagawa in desperate need of a run of games and form ahead of next year’s tournament.
