Party to conduct congresses to elect officials.
The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lai Mohammed, on Monday, said that the party would start registration of members in January 2014.
Mr. Mohammed told journalists in Ilorin that the party was set to conduct its conventions and congresses nationwide to elect its officers.
He said that Kwara was now full of APC members, adding that he had no reason to doubt the sense of purpose of the People Democratic Party, PDP, members who defected to the APC in the state.
Mr. Mohammed said that the APC had a lot to gain from accepting members of the new PDP to its fold in terms of spread in the state and also nationally.
He, however, debunked a claim that APC had reached an agreement on the sharing formula with the new PDP over elective posts.
According to him, the agreement the national executive reached was that the new PDP governors in APC would have the same rights as the APC governors.
The APC spokesman said that both parties would have inputs for members of the Harmonisation Committee in the state.
He said that both chairmen and secretaries of the defunct ANPP, ACN and CPC were members of the committee as well as members of the Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and all senators.
Mr. Mohammed also said that new PDP governors, party chairmen and the national officers of both parties were members of the harmonisation committee.
He expressed the confidence that APC would win the presidential election in 2015, going by the array of personalities in the party.
