Nervous security workers searching for a missing bag containing
$223,600 (£138,000) breathed a sigh of relief when an honest probation
officer returned the money untouched.
Jessica Luebke, who works for the Jefferson district office in Los
Angeles, found the sack of cash on Scotsdale Drive after it had fallen
out of an armoured vehicle.
The crew that was supposed to be looking after the money had been
frantically searching for their lost bundle, which contained $20 and
$100 bills.
When they eventually arrived back at the location they had dropped the bag, they found Luebke standing with police officers.
The probation worker spoke of her shock at discovering the huge sum.
‘I turned around immediately as soon as it registered what it actually
was – that it was a huge bag of cash,’ she said.
‘I just called Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office straight away.’ The
bag of money had fallen out of the car while it was leaving Boomtown
Casino.
