Team News

West Ham
  • West Ham's 3-1 defeat to Norwich last time out means they now sit level on points with 18th placed Fulham and are currently out of the relegation zone on goal difference only.
  • Manager Sam Allardyce has an every increasing injury list, with Razvan Rat, Winston Reid, Andy Carroll, Alou Diarra, Ricardo Vaz Te, Matthew Taylor, Mladen Petric and Joey O'Brien all sidelined.
  • George McCartney is in line to make his first league start of the season, while Mohamed Diamé could come in for Joe Cole on the wing.
Chelsea
  • Chelsea were somewhat fortuitous to come away with a point in their 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion before the international break and they'll be eager to pick up their away from against an underperforming West Ham side.
  • The Blues have won just 1 of their 5 league games away from Stamford Bridge this season, but will be confident of securing maximum points against a Hammers outfit that have won just once at Upton Park in the league.
  • Manager José Mourinho is without Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel, while Ashley Cole is a doubt with a rib problem meaning Cesar Azpilicueta could start at left-back again.

Prediction

  • West Ham are currently enduring a miserable run of form and the draw with Aston Villa at Upton Park means they're without a win in their last 4 home league fixtures, their worst run under Sam Allardyce.
  • Chelsea may have only won once in the league away from home, but are unbeaten in their last 6 London derbies in the Premier League, winning 4, and they'll be looking to stretch this run on Saturday evening.
  • West Ham's ever growing injury list is a real cause for concern and while they posses the necessary quality to upset the Blues, Chelsea are expected to pick up the win in what is set to be a hotly contested meeting at Upton Park.
