Match Preview: Cardiff vs Arsenal

Kick Off  4:00pm

Team News

Cardiff
  • Cardiff picked up an impressive point in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday and they'll be confident of repeating or bettering that feat with the welcome of Arsenal at the weekend.
  • Manager Malky Mackay will be without Rudy Gestede through injury, but the Frenchman is Cardiff's only absentee.
  • Andreas Cornelius returned from injury against United, but he's expected to start from the bench once again.
Arsenal
  • Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League with the routine dispatching of Southampton last time out and they'll look to build on that 2-0 win away at Cardiff.
  • Arsene Wenger welcomed Theo Walcott back to first-team action in the Champions League victory over Marseille on Tuesday, but will still be without About Diaby, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Ryo Miyaichi.
  • Kieran Gibbs is a doubt with illness, meaning Nacho Monreal could resume his role at starting left-back after playing the full 90 minutes in the Champions League.

Prediction

  • The Bluebirds are currently on a poor run of form in the Premier League having won just 1 of their last 6 matches and manager Malky Mackay will be looking to spring an upset when Arsenal make the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium.
  • However, the Gunners are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with Cardiff in all competitions, winning 6, and the north London side will be looking to extend than run when they travel to Wales.
  • Confidence is high in both camps after impressive results recently, but Arsenal have the strength in depth to take all 3 points back to the capital.
