Match Preview: Spain vs Belarus

Kick Off Time 21:00

Team News

Spain
  • Spain will all but secure their place at the World Cup with a win over Belarus, a team they defeated 4-0 away from home last October.
  • Michu has received his first international call-up, but will likely have to settle for a place on the bench with Álvaro Negredo expected to lead the attack.
Belarus
  • Belarus currently foot Group I following a disappointing qualification campaign that has seen them pick up just the 4 points thus far.
  • 3 of those came in the 2-0 win over Georgia last October and they'll be looking to keep the scoreline to a minimum when the travel to Spain.

Prediction

  • Spain know that a victory over Belarus will put them within touching distance of Brazil 2014 and are expected to secure the 3 points that will put some light between themselves and second placed France.
  • Belarus have performed abysmally in their World Cup qualifying campaign and aren't expected to pose much of a threat to the reigning world champions.
  • They're likely to start in a defensive 5-4-1, but Spain have enough about them to pick up the win at the Bernabeu.
