Manchester United
  • Manchester United will look to bounce back from the embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the hands rivals Manchester City, with manager David Moyes expected to make a number of changes from the team that started on Sunday.
  • Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini may be dropped at the expense of Anderson and Tom Cleverley, while Jonny Evans could make his first start of the season in place of Nemanja Vidic.
  • Elsewhere, Robin van Persie, Rafael, Phil Jones and Darren Fletcher all remain sidelined through injury.
Liverpool
  • Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end following the 1-0 defeat to Southampton and manager Brendan Rodgers will be demanding his team return to winning ways following the disappointing loss.
  • The main news is that Luis Suárez is available once again following the culmination of the 10-match ban and is expected to start at Old Trafford.
  • However, Philippe Coutinho, Aly Cissokho, Sebastían Coates and Glen Johnson will all miss out through injury, while Daniel Agger is a doubt with a rib injury.

Prediction

  • Manchester United's 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City means they've won just 1 of their last 4 domestic games and David Moyes will need to work hard to ensure their form is corrected ahead of the welcome of rivals Liverpool.
  • The visitors also suffered defeat at the weekend, but the return of Luis Suárez will provide a welcome boost to Brendan Rodgers following the news the Philippe Coutinho will be sidelined until the end of October following shoulder surgery.
  • United will want to return to winning ways, as will Liverpool, but home form will be expected to play a part in the encounter, although this may go to extra time.
