Airtel, Nokia Phone Exchange: Swap an Old Nokia Phone for a Lumia 520

Mobile Service Provider, Airtel Nigeria and one of the worlds leading mobile phone brands, Nokia have introduced a “Nokia phone exchange program” here in Nigeria for their customers. What am I talking about? If you own a Nokia phone and maybe, for some reason you think you need a new one, you can swap it for a new one at any Airtel Office.

The answer to the question you are already asking your self is NO! You cannot swap it for just any phone. You can swap your old Nokia phone for a Nokia Lumia 520, and sorry to burst your bubbles too soon the Nokia phone exchange is not completely free. LOL! To exchange your old Nokia phone with a new Nokia Lumia 520, you have to pay a “phone exchange” fee of 23,990 Naira irrespective of the type of phone you want to exchange.
It’s getting more interesting…
Just in case you don’t still understand what is going on, a new Nokia Lumia 520, goes for about 28,000 Naira, so this deal could be a fair one for Airtel or Nokia customers using nokia phones cheaper than 6,000 Naira. The deal doesn’t end there anyway…

So what else are my going to gain?
Customers who participate in the Nokia Phone Exchange program will be rewarded with 6 months free airtime worth 6,000 Naira for both data and on net calls.
According to Insua Bello – the Chief Sales of  Airtel Nigeria, the initiative is the first from a Mobile Service Provider in Nigeria, which is aimed at providing Nigerians with a rare opportunity to own smart phone devices. It is also in line with their commitment to making the Airtel the most loved Nigerian brand.
How To Participate in the Airtel – Nokia Phone Exchange Program
It’s simple! Just walk into any Airtel office nationwide, with a functional Nokia phone and a phone exchange fee of 23,990 Naira, then place your order. I still wonder whether they’ll collect all these “Nokia Torchlight” phones. This could just be one of their many strategies of getting people port to their network
