i will recommend this post to all internet users, most especially the female internet users, so even if you are not tech savi, you still need to know some common tips about online or internet activities to enable you stay safe on the internet because you never can tell what may happen next.

how to prevent your email account from getting hacked

==> do not logging to your email address from any how computer especially when you don't trust the owner of such computer.even if you must do, make use of the private browser on mozila firefox, google chrome.

==> when using a public computer e.g cyber cafe, make use of either mozila firefox or google chrome private browser.the private browser on such web browser software will not make your information known to any one after you exit the browser.

that means your web history will not be stored on the computer because every thing will be wiped out after quitting the browser.this way, your information will not be on the computer.

to make use of the private browser on mozila firefox, click on tool=>start private browsing. for Google chrome, click on customized control=>new incognito window.you will start browsing the internet privately and when you quit, your information will be erased, not traceable by any one that will use the computer.

==> after making use of your email account, please, please and please, always make sure you properly logged out before leaving the cyber cafe.i have seen this happened times without number, each time i go to the cyber cafe and visit either www.yahoo.com or www.gmail.com etc, i will either see some ones email already active, i will just log the person out before login to my email.so many people has done this and its not funny because you never can tell who have access to your email after leaving the cafe.you would only be lucky if that person has a good heart like me else you would have yourself to be blamed.

don't ever click on any link you see on your email address especially email that may come as a warning message that your account has been disabled and you should click on a particular link to get it fixed or you should click a link to update your account or stating that some one was trying to logging to your email or account so you should click on a particular link to do any what ever they request.

if you see such email in your inbox, please ignore it because gmail or yahoo will not send you such with especially url shortening like goo.gl, bit.ly, tinyurl.com/site etc.this kind of trick is called phishing hacking trick and the female most especially is the worst victims of such mail because they lack internet tips and tricks to know if such is true or false.

this is what will happened if you click on such link in the email, you will be redirected to a phishing/fake website that looks exactly like gmail, yahoo, Facebook etc and if you insert your logging details, it will tell you the information is wrong but you have automatically given the hackers your details unknowingly and they will use it and gain access to your account.

in other to know if such link or site is fake, when you click on the link, check the complete URL, you will noticed that it is completely different from the real address. e.g instead of seeing yahoo.com, you may see yahoo-mail.com or instead of gmail.com, you may see gmail-gmail.com or entirely different website address, so you have to take your time to check the website address before taking any action.

==> never tick the remember me check box when logging into your mail from a friend's computer or cyber cafe because doing that will remember your email address and password, anyone that visit the website will see your logging info already inserted, all the person need to do is to click on the logging button, so avoid it.

after making use of a friends computer or cyber cafe, always clear the browser history or cache before leaving. also clear your logging information from the web browser because most at times, web browser do save the exact copy of logging details.for Firefox, click on tools=>option=>security=>save password.you will see most of the site you have visited and also your logging details it has saved.if you click on the show password button, it will bring out the password for each website you have logged into.all you need to do is to highlight each site and click the remove button or you can just click on the remove all button.

don't ever try to register an account on any website with the same password you used for your email address.this is because some website admin will try to test such password on the email and if they succeed, then they will gain access into you email and do what ever they feel like.so avoid doing such.use a different password for any registration you want to do online.

==> when using a friends computer, or cyber cafe, always make sure you cover when typing in your password because the next man may be watching you without your notice.you just have to keep it secured because it is yours.

==> don't give some one your logging details especially when you don't trust the person or you barely knows the person.

==> don't download any form of attachment document of files if you don't know where it came from else you have your self to be blamed.immediately you opened any authorized attachment, the file will spread a virus Trojan malware that will be sending your information to a remote server, person controlling it.so be careful at the type of attachment you download from your email address.

==> if you are not sure about the kind of email you get from unauthorized individual or website, you can try and seek the help of an internet guru.you can contact me for assistance by either forwarding the email to me or contacting me in respect of such email.that's all.ENJOY.
