Match Preview: Barcelona vs Celtic

Kick Off

Team News

Barcelona
  • Barcelona are in the unfamiliar position of still needing a result from their final game to guarantee top spot in the group, and will field their strongest available side here.
  • Still without the likes of Messi, Alves, Alba and Valdes through injury, Cesc Fabregas misses out through suspension.
  • Neymar should thus start through the middle, with Pedro and Sanchez either side of him.
Celtic
  • Celtic will be without the services of the suspended Emilio Izaguirre.
  • Charlie Mulgrew may have to fill in at left-back with Kayal playing in midfield.
  • Already out of the competition and unable even to get a Europa League spot, Neil Lennon's side will be able to play here with no pressure.

Prediction

  • Barcelona still need a point to confirm top spot here, and will look to control the game on home soil against a team that are on paper, inferior.
  • However, Celtic have given Barcelona a fair amount of difficulty in recent times - they beat them at Celtic Park last year and came so close to a point in their meeting earlier in the season.
  • None of the last 6 meetings between the sides have been decided by more than a single goal, so this could be another tight affair, but the home side should still be favourites.
