Match Peview: Bayern Munich vs Manchester City

Kick Off 8:45pm

Team News

Bayern Munich
  • Bayern are all but guaranteed top spot in Group D, but won't take any risks and should field a strong team for the visit of Manchester City.
  • Philipp Lahm could return to the side after missing Saturday's 7-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen.
  • Arjen Robben is amongst those to miss out through injury.
Manchester City
  • David Silva could return for City, but they are unlikely to risk him in a match that is almost a dead rubber, particularly given that they face Premier League leaders Arsenal this weekend.
  • Yaya Toure is suspended after picking up a third yellow card in the Champions League last time out.
  • Joe Hart will again play in goal.

Prediction

  • Manchester City have to better Bayern's 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium back in October to finish top of Group D; a tough task against the in-form European Champions.
  • Bayern put seven past Werder Bremen at the weekend and although they won't repeat that here, at home to a City side who have struggled on the road all season, the Germans should maintain their 100% record.
  • Manuel Pellegrini would love to top the group and avoid a tougher fixture in the next round, but putting 3 past Bayern and keeping a clean sheet will simply be too much to ask.
Prediction:
Bayern Munich
2
1
Manchester City
