16 survive auto crash in Ebonyi

No body died from the crash.
Sixteen people on Monday survived an auto crash that occurred on the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway.
The accident involved a commercial Toyota bus belonging to Enugu State Transport Company with registration number ENU 282 ZX and an articulated vehicle with registration number AA 929 YLA.
A witness, who pleaded anonymity, said although no life was lost, two of the 16 bus passengers were seriously injured while the 14 others sustained varying degrees of injury.
Taiwo Eseyin, the Ebonyi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, who confirmed the crash, said his personnel rushed to the scene and conveyed the injured to the Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki for attention.

“When we got a signal that a crash occurred on the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway, we immediately dispatched our rescue team to the scene,’’ he said.
He warned motorists and other road users to obey traffic signs and rules and avoid excessive speed.
While reiterating the readiness of the corps to ensure safety on the roads as the yuletide approaches, Eseyin said it would apply traffic laws to deal with offenders.
“We have adopted some measures including awareness campaigns to motor parks to sensitise drivers and other road users to avoid reckless driving and obey road signs and traffic rules.
“I am appealing to motorists to always drive safely in order to stay alive; it is better late than be the late,’’ he said.
