Match Preview: Bayer Leverkusen vs Manchester United

Kick Off  8:45pm

Team News

Bayer Leverkusen
  • Bayer Leverkusen will again be without the 4 players that missed the win over Hertha Berlin at the weekend, with Stefan Reinartz, Roberto Hilbert, Sebastian Boenisch and Andres Palop all absent.
  • However, their biggest issue is on the wing where they will be without the in-form Sidney Sam, who was withdrawn after only 4 minutes at the weekend.
Manchester United
  • David Moyes hopes to have Nemanja Vidic back for the trip to Leverkusen after he missed the draw at Cardiff on Sunday, but Robin van hasn't made the journey to Germany.
  • However, United will still have problems in midfield whether or not they make it back, with Fellaini suspended and Carrick injured.
  • Shinji Kagawa and Phil Jones are both doubts too but have a chance of being involved.

Prediction

  • Vast injury problems on both sides could make this an unpredictable affair, with Leverkusen a severely depleted side without Sidney Sam and United possibly without talisman Robin van Persie.
  • Leverkusen struggled past Hertha Berlin, managing only 4 shots all game, while United stuttered once again with a 2-2 draw at newly promoted Cardiff.
  • A win for United would take them through to the next round, while a home win or a draw would leave the group wide open with 1 game to play. Utd have only scored 1 goals away from home in the CL this season, and could struggle to match the 4 they hit past Leverkusen at Old Trafford.
Prediction: 1
