Team News
Levante
- Levante moved up to ninth place in the table with a 1-0 win at Osasuna and have turned into a stable, rigid side under Caparros, conceding just four goals in their last six games.
- The Valencia side have an excellent record against Real Madrid at home: in their last four games against Los Blancos in all competitions, they have won two, drawn one and lost one.
- Last season's fixture was packed with tension and incident, with Madrid only winning thanks to a late winner from Alvaro Morata.
Real Madrid
- Ancelotti has declared he will make changes from the team that saw off Copenhagen in midweek, with those who missed out in that game likely to get a run out.
- The Italian declared that although Benzema was his main striker, it was possible that Morata would start.
- He also said he was pleased with how the 4-3-3 formation worked against the Danes, and hinted he would repeat it against Levante.
- Coentrao missed training due to a stomach problem, but is in the squad.
- Gareth Bale, out for two weeks with a thigh muscle contracture, misses out, as does Xabi Alonso.

Prediction
- Expect Levante to get physical against Madrid, their best hope of stopping the visitors.
- Madrid must win if they want to keep the pace with Atletico and Barcelona, but will face dogged opponents here and will have to be committed and innovative if they are to find a way through.
- Levante have only scored one goal at home this season and will be even more cautious against Madrid than they have been against Sevila, Valladolid and Real Sociedad. The match is unlikely to be as highly-charged as last season's affair, with Mourinho and Ballesteros gone, and the dearth in quality amongst the home side should see Madrid win.
