Ozil was Real Madrid scapegoat, says father

Mesut Ozil’s father has slammed Real Madrid’s sporting director Florentino Perez, claiming that he leaked negative stories about his son.

Spanish newspaper ABC reported last week that Perez had told senior Madrid members that the 24-year-old would be allowed to leave because the Galacticos had grown tired of the German’s unprofessional off-pitch antics.

The report suggested that Ozil had begun socialising heavily and womanising to such an extent that his on-field performances had suffered.
ABC’s report also focused on Mustapha Ozil – Mesut’s father – by stating that he had leaked numerous stores regarding interest from other clubs after Madrid rejected the player’s €8.5 million (£7m) per year wage demands.

In response to the Spanish newspaper’s claims, Mustapha told German newspaper Bild that he will take the club and their senior members to court in order to defend his and his son’s “good names.”
"Just because someone earns a lot of money does not make them automatically a man of honour," Mustapha Ozil said. "And [Florentino] Perez is no man of honour. Mesut is made the scapegoat now. And I am the greedy father, who only waits for the big money.
"If Mesut leads such a dissipated life, as they always say, then I wonder: Why did he always play?" he said. "They want to talk Mesut down, because the fans and some team-mates are angry about his sale.”
The current Arsenal player’s father then denied reports that he had visited top Premier League clubs in order to force a move.
“There is an agent in England who forged an authorisation with my signature in order to shop around Mesut in my name," Ozil senior said. "We have taken legal measures against this person. We will see this through."
ABC then went back on their original publication, stating that the report came from "diverse sources" but none of these were Perez.
"From ABC we state that the president of Real Madrid made no interview or statement about this matter. We are sorry if the information published has led to erroneous interpretations.”
